Winchester Legacy{Vacation Interlude}
Don’t get me wrong. Dane’s a pretty cool guy. If I wasn’t worried about hurting my dad’s feelings I think I would call Dane dad. I mean, he’s been around my whole life. That’s more than I can say for my real dad. And besides he was someone I could really talk to. About anything. Mostly about girls though. I was close to mom but it would be slightly awkward ya know? Plus she got all emotional when I started talking about girls.
“So, when are we going to get a chance to meet this new girl of yours?”
I shrugged then swallowing a bite of hot dog cleared my throat. “I don’t know. Maybe never? It’s nothing serious. Mom just wants it to be serious. All I want is to have fun ya know?”
“Yeah, it’s always cool to have fun…as long as you’re being safe!”
He eyeballed me and I suddenly realized what he was getting at. I shifted in my chair and shrugged. “Yeah, I’m safe. Besides the only girl I slept with with Melody Tinker and she was all for it. That’s one of the reasons I stopped hanging around her.”
“Why’s that?”
“Cause all she wanted to do was have sex after the first time. Well, my first time. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t her first time. Anyways, I didn’t mind it at first but then I got tired of being jumped and pulled into any empty room. I can’t afford to get suspended. Not with me looking at colleges and stuff you know?”
“Yeah, I know.” Dane picked at his bun for a minute before nudging me with his foot. “Hey kid?”
“Yeah?”
“You know I’ve always been proud of you right? I’ve always thought of you as my son. I just didn’t want to…” He drifted off.
“Yeah…same goes.”
We grinned like idiots across the table at each other before we heard mom calling his name. He winked at me as he scooted his chair back.
“Once you get older you won’t mind being pulled into any empty room to have sex. Hell, I don’t and me and your mom have-”
I slapped my hands over my ears. “I am NOT listening! Go away!” I smothered a grin when he walked away laughing.
I don’t know what happened. A few days later Val just when psycho and ran outside and started stomping on the diner’s flower bed. The owner was upset, mom was upset, Dane was upset because mom was upset and Val could care less. She just stood there, with her hand hanging down and her fist clenched, panting as everyone demanded to know what was going on. She kind of reminded me of the Incredible Hulk.
“You won’t like me…when me get angry…” I whispered in a gravelly voice to Gai. I saw her bit her lip to prevent herself from laughing.
We still had two days left in our vacation but mom decided that we should cut it short since something was obviously bothering Val. Sometimes I swear that girl is bi-polar. Gai and I tried to protest but mom just shook her head and slipping an arm around Val’s shoulders guided her away while Dane paid for the damages to the flowers.
And before I knew it the taxi driver had arrived and we were on our way back to Redfalls…and I was headed back to my last semester of high school. Scary huh?
Writer’s Notes: Checking themselves out in the mirror. That’s the FIRST thing that Neil and Gai do. What in the world? LOL!
I picked a mid priced hotel to stay at and all but two of the cabins were taken. So Neil slept outside until one of the girls got up so he could sleep in the bed. I felt bad for him until I realized he seemed to like to sleep on the hammock so I let him.
And how come no one told me kids could walk around with the bear?! I seriously did not know that! I had her running around just to see and it really does happen! Wow! O_o Alice makes the best facial expressions by the way! Haha!
I couldn’t resist the girls gossiping about Neil outside the bathroom. I couldn’t!
I didn’t even realize we were in Bigfoot’s camp until he walked out. I guess I found that map digging! Also Neil, Val and Gai all had a fear of meeting Bigfoot which is why they’re outside fishing.
Dane nekkid = WIN!!
And don’t ask me why Val was stomping on the flowers. They were allĀ hungry so I let them get something to eat at the diner. She got up, raced downstairs and started stomping the mess out of the flowers. Holy crap right? I figured it was time to go after that!

The part where they were gossiping about Neil cracked me up! Poor guy!
Actually, he’s a really good brother to his sisters. He’s a cool guy, even if he does remind me of one of my ex-boys. And Val had a few nice moments here too, which was good to see. The country air must be doing her some good.
