RECAP: The family returned home from vacation, Neil started a fire in the kitchen(first legacy fire!), Val died from mysterious causes(I didn’t catch what she died from), Dane reached his LTW, Gai and Neil took off for college and Alice grew up.

Hey! It’s an understudy of the photographer. I got sent off with the Winchester kids heading to college. The normal photographer said she couldn’t go because she had to stay at the house and catch all the action there! Anyways…

The kids wouldn’t talk to me after I took these pics. That’s a young adult Gai. She pretty much beat a path to the dorm when she looked down at her outfit. And yelled at me that she couldn’t believe I had taken this picture.

Yeah, that’s Neil…I can totally understand why he would be pissed. That’s just wrong…on so many levels. He followed after Gai but he flipped me off over his shoulder. Probably because I was laughing. But I couldn’t help myself.

Anywho! After they finished changing clothes and hairstyles Gai said that she would do this update. Ready?

Lights!

Camera!

Action!

Hey! It’s me! That new photographer is a dork! For some reason I thought that with us being in college we wouldn’t be followed around. Yeah, I see that I was mistaken. Anyways, I don’t know what those clothes were about. Seriously? Me in a skirt is so not going to happen. That’s more mom’s thing than mine. And I figured that the ponytails had to go.   I think I look okay. Nothing fancy but then again I’m here for a purpose, not to win a modeling contest.

Neil took longer getting ready. He said he had to look good for the ladies! Whatever! Don’t make me gag! Although, I gotta admit when he came out of the bathroom I had to do a double take. He didn’t even look like the same person. At least not to me. I’m used to him with that crazy looking hair. This guy here, the new and improved Neil, is put together. Slick looking. I don’t know about that.

“Hey Gai! Wanna play some baseball?”

“Neil…you suck at baseball!”

“Hey! I’m a college guy now! I might have leaned some skills that you don’t know about!”

Oooor…he wanted to go outside to scope out the girls moving in. I’m thinking that’s more likely but whatever. Neil and I had always been sort of close. Maybe it was because of Val or maybe it just the oldest and the youngest bonding. Whatever it was I couldn’t say no to him. Besides, I didn’t know when we were going to have time just to play once school started.

Lo and behold. I was right. Look at this chick right here. She’s not even trying to hid the fact that she thinks Neil is cute. Ugh! Gag me right now. For his part Neil is trying to act like he doesn’t see her but I see that little smirk on his face and he took an extra long time to wind up to pitch the baseball back at me.

“Neil!!”

I guess I startled him because he let the ball fly and it  hit me in my thigh.

“Geez Neil!! Keep your head in the game!” I hollered as I rubbed at my stinging leg. He shrugged and then glanced over his shoulder to see if that blonde girl was still looking. She was and he turned back around with a grin on his face.

Alright, I admit that I shouldn’t have let myself get so angry but my leg was still stinging. Even if Neil couldn’t catch he could throw pretty hard.

I threw the ball. Way harder than I should have.

Surprisingly enough he actually caught it but he gave me ‘the look’ and tossed the ball to the ground.

“I’m done playing!”

“Whatever! You’re done playing because  you want to chase after that girl!”

“Don’t be an idiot Gai!” he hissed taking a quick look over his shoulder. I wanted to tell him that she had already disappeared into the dorms.

“Well, stop being a douche!”

“Why does everyone keep calling me that?”

“Well, that’s a good question isn’t it?” I snapped as I brushed past him.

“Gai!”

Ignoring him I marched up the stairs and entered the dorms. I quickly picked out a room on the second floor, nestled in the corner far away from the hustle and bustle then walking over to a computer sat and stared at the screen. Picking a major was a big deal. It would pretty much affect the outcome of my four years here. Was I ready for that? A picture of Val seemed to float across the screen and I booted up the computer and picked my major.

I figured I’d get an early start on my classes so after I registered I grabbed a book. I’d looked at the course structure for my classes and I knew some of the courses were going to be hard. I didn’t want to fail. Sure mom and dad would help me out with money but if I failed I’d be put on academic probation. Not only that but I’d  have to take the course over again and that would put me further behind.

“Study your ass off Gai. You have to do this. Think of Val!”

I absently wondered if Val would have done the same thing if it had been me that had died. We hadn’t really been close but I knew she loved me in her own way…but would she have changed her whole life to bring me back?

I guess that’s the million dollar question isn’t it?

I got hungry and since this old guy was constantly making food I thought I would grab a quick bowl of mac and cheese. I heard someone run past me but people had been running in and out all day so I didn’t really pay it any mind. That was until I saw the shadow of a person standing by my table. I looked to the left and then quickly looked back down at my bowl.

Oh good grief! Too bad Neil wasn’t here to appreciate the streaker’s antics.

Quickly finishing off my  bowl I pushed back from the table and decided to  have a look around. Before I got too far Neil rushed up to me.

“Gai! Hey, I have a date tonight. Want to be my wing man?”

“How in the world do you have a date already?”

Neil grinned and smoothed his hair with a hand before spreading his arms. “Everyone wants a piece of the McNeil.”

“Okay, I know you did not just call yourself McNeil!”

“Yeah…that’s not a good nickname is it?” He tapped his lip with a finger before shrugging. “I’ll come up with something. So do  you want to come?”

“And be a third wheel? Thanks but no thanks.”

“Come on sis! I already told her that you’d come. “

I heaved a sigh as he gave me his best puppy dog face. “Fine! Fine!”

“Awesome!” Laughing, he tugged on my ponytail then grabbing my arm rushed me out to wait for the taxi.
