Winchester Legacy 2.6

I could have sworn I saw Val’s ghost floating around her room. She looked kinda sad. I was just standing in the doorway, looking around when she just came through the wall and floated through her desk. It almost gave me a heart attack and I was about to scream for mom and dad then thought better of it. Squeezing my eyes tightly closed I counted to ten and when I peered through my eyelashes the room was empty again.

So, I must have imagined it.  Right?

Dad really seems to be enjoying the new job. He says it gives him more time to spend with us. Things are slowly returning to normal. The house is going crazy and mom just randomly hugs Neil since he’s going to be going off soon. He acts like it irritates him but I can tell it doesn’t. His eyes kinda close and he gets this grin on his face before he remembers that he should be acting all disgusted! I think it’s pretty funny actually. But I don’t say anything. I know he’s going to miss us. Well…he’s going to miss them. Like I said. I have a plan. I’ve been talking to some people at school, my guidance counselors and stuff and they think I could do it. So, I just have to sit down and tell mom and dad. I hope they’ll be supportive. It’s the right thing for me to do.

Oh yeah, I got my first kiss. I don’t know…maybe I was expecting something different but it just felt…weird.

“Sooo…” Frank said afterward.

“Yeah….”

He scratched the back of his head and I rubbed at my arm.

“That was kinda…”

“Blah?”

I laughed. “Yeah. Look, you’re a great guy and all and I like you as a friend but-”

“We should so not try to date.”

“Exactly! Just because your sister and my brother are dating doesn’t mean-”

“That we should.”

I nodded, relieved that he understood.

“Besides, my sister and your brother aren’t really dating. Not now anyways. They kinda drifted apart when..”

Yeah, I knew what he meant. After Val died Neil saw Erin everyday but as the weeks went on he kinda stopped seeing anyone and started focusing on getting scholarships. It was actually kinda weird to see him so focused. I was used to him being a big goofball.

“Hey! What’s that sound? It-”

“What’s that?” I asked as I yanked at his arm and pointed him in a different direction than the sound was coming from.

“What’s what?”

“That?” I waved a hand distractedly as I glanced to my right. I blinked. So, I hadn’t imagined it. There was Val. Her headstone was still by the exercise bike and apparently that’s where she had come from. Weird. I chewed on my lip. Should I say something to anyone or should I just let her wander around? Maybe I should give it time. Maybe Val’s soul would find peace if she saw us moving on with or life. Or maybe…maybe she would be even meaner in death than she had been in live.

“Oh crap!”

“What?” Frank asked turning toward me.

I quickly shook my head then winced when my ponytails slapped me in the face. “Nothing, nothing. Look, I gotta…I gotta…”

I jumped when the sound of the trashcan clattering to the sidewalk broke the silence of the night.

Val?

“Leroy!” He jerked back and looked guilty up at me. A chip bag was stuck to his lip. Frowning, I yanked it off then gestured down to the mess he had made.

“Look at this mess Roy! Why’d you do it huh? I left you a bowl of food this morning! This is uncalled for. Uncalled for! Do you understand me?” As I was scolding him I cleaned up the mess. I glanced over at him and sighed. He looked so miserable with his tail tucked between his legs that I couldn’t stay mad at him. As I patted him on the head I knew that I had to talk to the family soon. No time like the present, I thought straightening my shoulders and walked into the house.

“Mom? Dad?”

“In the living room.”

I walked into the living room to see mom sitting comfortable in dad’s lap in her bikini. I had to smile then sighed as I took a seat.

“What’s wrong Gai?”

“Mom…dad…I filled out applications for early admission to several colleges and I’ve been accepted to nearly every one of them.” I held up my hand when dad opened his mouth. “Let me finish dad okay?”

At his nod I rubbed my hands over my thighs then sighed. “Look, I’ve been reading up on some things and there’s a way to get Val back. Sure, it’s kinda iffy but…we’d have Val back. Besides, I think it would be fun to take those classes ya know?”

“What are you talking about Gai?” Mom asked in a strangled voice.

“I can take up Paranormal studies and when I get out of college can go into that field. After awhile I can gain the use of the Resurrect-O-Nomitron, or whatever it’s called. With enough money Val will be able to be alive again.”

“No! That’s…that’s not possible.”

I reached over and gripped mom’s hand. I could feel it trembling in mine. “Yes, it is mom. Look, I’ve already decided that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve gotten scholarships and everything so you can’t threaten not to help me out in school. Please mom,” I looked over at dad to see him staring at me with an unreadable expression, “Dad. Please?”

“Absolutely no-”

“When I first came up with my elixir everyone thought it would never work Toni. But you and I both know it does. What’s the harm in letting Gai try? I know you miss Val, I do too. Apparently Gai has given this a lot of thought and it doesn’t appear she needs our approval. Only that she wants it.”

Mom pressed a hand to her forehead before slowly nodding her head. “Fine, alright.”

I grinned and giving them kisses raced into Neil’s room where the computer was. I quickly applied for admittance at the college of my choice and just as quickly got a message back saying that I was. I could see mom waving sadly at me and dad looked away. I could see that his eyes were extra bright and he was blinking rapidly. He cleared his throat just as Alice came into the room.

“What’s going on?”

“Gai’s going away to college.”

“B-but I thought she still had another year here!”

Kneeling down I gripped her arms. “I changed my mind squirt. Just think of it this way. You’ll have mom and dad all to yourself as soon as Neil leaves.”

Her mouth trembled then she flung herself into my arms. “I’m going to miss you,” I whispered.

“Will you call me?”

“I sure will.”

She sniffed loudly in my ear before pulling away. Walking over she slipped her hand into dad’s.

I quickly gave each of them hugs. I wasn’t like I wasn’t ever going to see them again. College wasn’t that far.

“What’s going on?” Neil asked as he came to a stop in the doorway.

“Gai’s going to college!” Alice said.

Neil looked around then shrugged. “Well, I guess I better get my stuff and go too huh? I can’t let one of my little sisters go to school all by herself.”

“W-what?”

“Et tu Neil,” mom said in a wobbly voice before she buried her face into her hands and started to cry. Dad slipped his free arm around her shoulders as he grinned at us.

“We’ll see you guys in a few days,” he said loudly to be heard over mom’s sobs.

As Neil and I slipped into the backseat of the taxi I looked back. Sure, I was a little scare but I was excited too. I had always wanted to go to college, had picture myself as a scholar for as long as I could remember. But sometimes life changes things and you just have to roll with the punches.

“Hey Gai?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m glad you’re going to be there with me.”

I glanced over at Neil. “Thanks Neil. That’s the sweetest-”

“Now I won’t have to hire a tutor to help me out. Unless, of course, she hot!” He winked at me and I stared at him in open mouthed amazement until he dug his elbow into my ribs. A snort of laughter escaped me and before I knew it, as our house faded into the distance, we were howling with laughter.

Back in the house other changes were taking place as well.

Writer’s Notes: Yeah…it was a suprise to me too. I was catching the first legacy fire when I heard this…sound. I panned around looking for Val and by the time I thought to look outside it was too late. I couldn’t plead for her. And that lady just walked up into the yard with the saddest face. I hadn’t even seen her before. And how’s this for Sim logic? Your sister just DIED Gai! Because of that same machine!

I caught Toni doing that the same night that Val had died. She was just standing there…staring at the empty bed. Kinda tragic huh? Ugh! Sad!

Alice kept rolling the want for a puppy or a kitten so I got her a puppy. She rolled the want again so I got another puppy! Maybe I can have babies?

Val’s ghost startled me. I heard that ghostly sound that they do then she just appeared in her bedroom. Gai’s the only one that’s noticed her so far.

And yeah, she wasn’t really feeling Frank. She did the whole looking at me motion and then shook her head before she leaned in and then they stood their awkwardly. What had happened was Frank had came over because Val knew him. He was her secret crush but…that couldn’t happen now couldn’t it?

I got the idea to send Neil and Gai to college together after the death. I figure one of them can do the Paranormal career so I can resurrect Val(Everyone kept rolling that want anyways!). Which is going to be weird because she’s going to be younger than everyone! LOL! How will that work in the legacy I wonder?

Aaaand…Alice rolled Pleasure! Dude, I think something is wrong with my dice! And in case you haven’t realized I’m not playing for points. Just not using cheats.

Yessss!!! Now I can play the game again! I didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself. These pics have been up since 4/22. Now, how do you guys think I should do the Uni updates? One update per Uni year? Or per semester? Feedback is welcome!
