And while I was having my break down my little girl grew into a toddler. Thank God Dane was there to see it and the photographer captured it.  She’s adorable isn’t she? My little Gai. She was so quiet as a baby that sometimes we’d have to go check on her only to see her waving her hands in the air and giggling to herself.  Gosh, there goes another one that’s going to have Dane wrapped around her little finger. Look at the pair of them. She has his hair and my nose. Why do all my kids get my nose?

The photographer was talking to her in this weird voice and she thought it was funny. Of course, she lost interest as soon as soon as her father brought her a bottle but I still think this is a great picture. I’m also happy that our floor was clean. With two kids it’s a chore keeping anything clean.

Awww….when the photographer showed me this picture I thought it was adorable. Look. That’s the toy that Val used to play with all the time. And she’s passing it on to her sister. How cute is that? Maybe Val isn’t as mean as I thought. When I mentioned that fact to the photographer she just cleared her throat and shuffled to the next picture.

Okay, not so sweet. Apparently Val snatched the toy back before Gai could get to it. Gai didn’t cry though. The photographer says she just looked at Val before picking back up her discarded bottle and continued to drink. Val eventually gave her the toy and Gai happily played with it.

“When you get married you not only marry that person you also marry into their family. So you get all kinds of relatives.”

“Where’s mom’s relatives at? And what about yours? How come we  never get to see our grandparents?”

“It’s complicated Val. Your mom and her parents aren’t close and well…my parents aren’t around any longer.”

“So mom’s your family?”

“And all of you guys. We’re all family. And when you get married-”

“I don’t want to get married dad,” she said before eating a bit of food.

“Why not? You’d deny your old man the chance to walk you down the aisle?”

She wrinkled her nose. “Boys are idiots.”

Dane tapped his fingers on the table. “Well pumpkin…you don’t necessarily have to marry a boy…”

She frowned before her eyes widened. “Oh yeah! Like a couple of kids that I know at school. They have two mom’s or two dads.”

“Yep, that’s exactly what I mean. Regardless of who you choose I want you to know that you’ll always be a part of this family okay?”

“Okay dad!” Reaching over she planted a syrupy kiss on his cheek before getting ready for school.

Oh! Did I mention that we did a remodeling job? The house was just too small and with that plot of land that my grandmother left me it’s easy to expand on. Plus Dane and I were both making good money so we hired an architect. As you can see they’re found of boxes, no angles for us, but it’ll do for now. Our little house now boasts three bedrooms, a nursery, two bathrooms and plenty of space in the living room for any and everything. We’re content with it. However, maybe next time we’ll ask for a hobby area or something.
