Winchester Legacy 1.1

Imagine my surprise when the photographer showed me these pictures one day after I got off of work. Like I said, I wasn’t good at remembering to pay bills. I rarely went out to the mailbox and when I was home I was studying or Gordon and I were hanging out. Doesn’t this guy look a little too happy to be doing his job? There’s something twisted about the type of person that gets joy from taking other people’s things. Of course, I don’t think he’s very good at his job.

He took my counter. No, not the sink. Just the counter next to it. And a light bulb. Yeeeeaaahhhh….

Anyways, I got another promotion. I know, I don’t have a life but I’m trying to add an addition onto the house. Gordon had showed me some floor plans and suggested some architects that I could use that were priced fairly decent. Speaking of Gordon…

I called him up to let him know about my promotion and he came over a short while later to congratulate me in person. He kissed my cheek and suddenly I felt a tingle. I took a quick step back as I studied him. He was staring at me as if he knew what I was thinking. He offered to take me out to dinner but I decided that I wanted to stay in and cook.

I never really had a chance to cook at home. That’s what cooks were for right? But I’d found out that I enjoyed reading cookbooks and trying new recipes. Gordon didn’t mind being my guinea pig either since he claimed that a single man would take food where ever it was offered. I had a sneaking suspicion that Gordon was an excellent cook since he sometimes taste tested and would absently add a dash of this and a dash of that.

I stirred the pot of Chili Con Corn and thought about my reaction to Gordon. He’d never shown an interest in my other than friendship. And was I really wanting to risk a friendship that had become important to me over the last few months? Thoughts of Joe intruded but I ruthlessly pushed them away. Gordon was nothing like Joe. Hell, sometimes I’d have to push Gordon out of the house as he playfully pleaded to watch one more movie even though we both had to be to work that same morning. And nothing felt better than to curl casually against him as we each did our separate work.

I shook my head. Gordon was a dear friend. I really didn’t want to screw that up for something that might be fleeting.

I blinked when I walked outside a few weeks later and flat flurries of snowflakes hit my cheeks and melted. I grinned. I loved the snow. Baldwin Hills rarely had snow. Hopefully, by the time I got off work, there would be enough for me to build a decent snowman. My cell phone rang as I was getting into the car. I grinned as I looked down at the caller ID. Flipping open the phone I had barely got out a hello before I was interrupted.

“Do you see the snow LaTonya? The weatherman is saying that it’s not going to stick but we can always hope huh?”

I laughed at the excitement in Gordon’s voice. “I was thinking the same thing!”

“Great minds think alike huh? So, will I see you tonight?”

“It depends on what time I get off work.”

“I don’t care about the time LaTonya. Just call me on your way home okay?”

“Sure.” Gordon was the only one who called me LaTonya. I had tried to get him to call me Toni but he said that wasn’t my name. Shaking my head I got out of the car and headed into the building. Not soon after I started someone stormed into the crowded waiting rooms making demands.

Can you believe the gall? That’s just crazy! If I were waiting in the waiting room I’d be pissed if someone else got ahead of me after I’d been waiting for hours. I had to make a point.

Of course I thought I was going to get fired so imagine my surprise when the guy was so impressed I got an immediate promotion.

I called Gordon on my way home and was bubbling over with excitement. I couldn’t believe it. I was working my way up faster than I thought possible. I pinched myself to make sure it was real then rubbed away the sharp pain. I shoved open the car door and raced inside to change my clothes. From inside the house I could hear Gordon shouting my name. Yanking open the door I looked out to see Gordon racing down the sidewalk toward me. Laughing I met him half way and flung myself into his arms.

“I am so proud of you,” he whispered in my ear as he gathered me close to him. Wrapping my arms around his neck I squeezed tightly. He held me close for a minute before putting me back on my feet.

I kept my hands on his shoulders as I grinned up at him. He grinned stupidly down at me. I don’t know what happened but somehow we were closer than we previously had been. I could feel his breath on my mouth and his hands clenched and unclenched around my waist. He bent his head and hesitantly brushed his mouth against mine. I stood frozen in place for a second and then a heat unfurled in my stomach and I slipped my arms around his neck and my hands into his hair as I tilted my head and deepened the kiss. When we broke apart I slipped my hand into his and tugged him into the house.

Photographer notes: Toni kept getting rejected when she would ask “Do you like what you see?”. I had to laugh at her expressions. Also, I did use the machine and she was in gold when she pulled the lever so I thought it was all good. I looked away for a second, heard the weird yelling and looked back to see during the time she pulled the lever and the time she pulled the switch she had fallen into the green! Brilliant!! She did nod off in the bathroom and while I was trying to get her to take a shower she was hollering about being hungry so I directed her to the fridge and then she was mad about having to to the bathroom. Soo…yeah!

Gordon was a walk by and since her social was down I had her run outside and talk to him. I was surprised when he was attracted to her. Two bolts. And this was the first time I ever had the Repo man! I was surprised because I completely forgot about the bills! Whoops! This chapter was alot longer(about twenty more pics) but I decided to end it here! Hope you enjoyed!
