Winchester Legacy: Introduction or 1.0
I love to dance. Feeling the vibrations through my feet, the bass pulsing in time with the drumming of my heart. I could dance all night! But since I had to go to work the next day I was mindful of the time. The last thing I needed to happen was for me to get fired before I even started. But the DJ was spinning her records like no ones business and I couldn’t prevent my feet from keeping time.
I turned around, giving a little shimmy with my hips and was surprised to see a man looking at me. He leaned in to speak to me. The lights from the multicolored disco balls danced across his face and made his blue eyes glitter. He raised his voice to be heard over the music.
“You look good. Do you want to dance?”
Shrugging and I stepped closer and began to shimmy and shake. I knew I had moves. Heck, I had been enrolled in dance classes before I could walk.
“My name’s Joe.”
“Latonya, but everyone usually calls me Toni.”
He nodded to let me know that he heard me and then busted a move…
…a move that I hadn’t seen since the days of ‘In Living Color’. I bit my lip to keep from laughing. He looked so focused and so proud of himself. It was cute in a dorky kind of way. He raised his eyebrow as if he expected me to compliment him on his 90′s style moves.
“Ummm…do you come here often?”
He shrugged. “No, not really. I’m glad I came tonight though.” He grinned at me.
Real smooth, I thought grinning at him. “I’m glad I came tonight too!”
This time I couldn’t hold back my laugh as he did the funky move again. He didn’t take offense though. He just laughed right along with me as we continued to dance until I finally decided that I need to get home and get some sleep. We exchanged phone numbers and he leaned in for a kiss but I dodged at the last minute. I wasn’t a prude but I wasn’t easy either. He took a step back and raised his hands in a gesture of peace.
“I’m sorry. I had a really great time and I thought-”
“I had fun too. I just don’t kiss guys on first dates. And technically this isn’t even a first date.”
He smiled. “I’ll call you tomorrow? This is your number and not some bogus one right?”
I had to laugh. I’d done that a time or two to some sleaze bags who were persistent about wanting my digits. “No, that’s my home number.”
“Alright, well…good night.”
I waved as I got into the taxi. Well, there went the last of my money I thought as I handed the driver the last of the bills in my pocket.
Joe called me the next afternoon.
“How about I come over to your place and we just hang out and watch a movie?”
I looked around my house. He couldn’t come here! I didn’t even have flooring and the place still smelled like burnt TV dinners.
“Uh, how about I meet you downtown?”
He agreed readily enough and before I knew it Joe and I were…dating. I don’t date…well at least I didn’t date. I always thought it was such a hassle but Joe made everything seem so effortless. He never pleaded with me for more time, he knew I was trying to work my way up the ladder at my job and yet he always had time for me when I was able to fit him in. It was like a dream.
“Can I kiss you now?” he asked after our fifth date. He had been such a gentleman I had began to wonder if Joe was…well gay. He never tried to cop and feel or anything which I find sort of odd.
I didn’t reply. At least not verbally. I leaned in and he met me half way and the kiss was just…it was everything a kiss should be. When we broke apart I knew that I was falling for him. If I was honest with myself I was more than half way there…and I was totally okay with that.
He didn’t seem to mind that I only had a few outfits to wear. Heck, he didn’t really have that many himself. When I asked him what he did for a living he just smiled and said it was a top level security job but he had to blend in with civilians. I admit it, I was star struck. Not that I wasn’t moving up at my job but I wasn’t happy. I didn’t want to be a military professional. I wanted to do something else. Maybe work with people.
Joe and I had so much fun on our dates. We both liked to karaoke and we both sounded horrible but didn’t care. We were together and having fun. When Joe serenaded me one night with a sappy love song I knew that I was ready to take our relationship to the next level. I’d been toying with the idea and I knew Joe had been thinking about it during our heavy make out sessions. After we left the bar I invited him back to my places. We barely made it through the door before we were all over each other.
We didn’t have to stumble very far to make it to the bed. I had been able to splurge and get a king size bed but the house was still just one big room. We landed in a heap on the bed and I quickly crawled on top of him. He wrapped his arms around me and we grinned foolishly at each other before I slowly bent down and nipped at his lips. He groaned.
“Tease.”
“You’d better believe it,” I said with a laugh. I let out a shriek as he flipped me over and then we were tussling with each other as we each tried to touch skin.
I felt like there were fireworks that night as we pushed and slid against each other. Joe whispered erotic things in my ear and I screamed with pleasure. I lost track of how many time we went at it but I know I was a boneless heap by the time we were done. Joe laughed as he nestled against me.
I know I fell asleep with a grin on my lips and Joe’s large hand curled around my stomach. I hated to cuddle though so I soon edged away from him. He stirred then swung his legs over the edge of the bed.
“Where are you going?”
“I have to go to work tonight so I need to go home and get a change of clothes.” He leaned down and placed a kiss on my bare shoulder. “Go to sleep. I’ll call you tomorrow.”
I frowned. “I hope you’re not one of those guys.”
He blinked down at me as he pulled on his underwear. “What are you talking about?”
“You know, one of those guys who after they get what they want they disappear into the ether never to be seen or heard from again.”
He chuckled as he zipped up his zipper. “Toni, I’ll call you tomorrow. I promise.”
“Okay.”
He winked at me and headed out the door.
He looked back over his shoulder at me. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
And though our relationship progressed Joe never stayed the night.
